Campus Coffees for Change

Campus Coffees for Change offers a simple, powerful way for students to build community and take action to protect and advance our democracy. Gather with your friends for coffee, a meal, or fun activity – connect, learn from each other, and decide how you want to make a difference together.

We created a free toolkit with everything you need for a successful event: tips for planning your event, conversation starters, practical action items, and even pro-democracy book recommendations!

How to Host a Coffee for Change

1

Download the free toolkit

Start by downloading the free toolkit.

You’ll find tips for organizing a successful event, conversation starters, practical action items, and even pro-democracy book recommendations!

2

Find your people

Pick a time and place to gather friends — your kitchen table, a local café, or a neighborhood restaurant.

Aim for 5–10 guests to keep the conversation engaging and intimate, but you’re welcome to invite more!

3

Invite and prepare

Pick a time and place. Impromptu get-togethers are great, but sometimes it’s a good idea to decide on a date and location ahead of time.

Review the toolkit. No need for anything formal, but having a rough plan for the conversation can help keep things on track.

4

Host the conversation

Use the conversation starters to prompt interesting discussions and build connections. Talk through the suggested action items and decide what makes sense for your group.

5

Take action and keep it going.

Share photos from your Campus Coffee on social media. Volunteer on campus or in your community. Designate a point person to schedule another Campus Coffee. Every action counts!
